Date posted: 8.10.2018
Water conservation and washroom services specialists HSG has been formally presented with The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire Mr William Tucker.
The Lord-Lieutenant and Mrs Tucker joined civic dignitaries including The High Sheriff of Derbyshire Mrs Lucy Palmer, the Mayor of Derby Cllr Mike Carr and the Chairman of Derbyshire County Council Cllr George Wharmby for the presentation at HSG’s offices in Derby’s Pride Park.
Also in attendance were employees from the sales, technical and administration teams at HSG as well as representatives from businesses and organisations who have supported the company throughout its 11 years in business.
HSG is one of just two companies within Derbyshire which has been recognised during 2018 and The Queen’s Award stays in place for five years.
The Grant of Appointment was presented to HSG Managing Director Simon Rice who said: “It was a huge honour to be awarded the Grant of Appointment by the Lord-Lieutenant on behalf of The Queen.
“This is the highest and most prestigious award that can be granted to a business in the UK and we are very proud to now be displaying The Queen’s Award emblem.
“HSG’s system is the market leader in this field by using patented technology to improve the washroom environment.”
The Ureco stops smells by trapping urinal odours below the surface and reduces blockages through the patented enzyme system which breaks down the fat, acid and salt in urine.
This enables the Uretech to reduce urinal flushes from around 96 times to just four times a day - saving money by reducing water consumption by up to 96%.
Mr Rice continued: “Since learning of our success this Spring, we have won more than £100,000 of new business for the Ureco.
“New customers range from further visitor attractions such as Chester Zoo, sporting venues including Derbyshire County Cricket Club, corporate buildings such as BT Sport head office in London’s Olympic Park and Euro Garages in Blackburn as well as food manufacturing sites including Shire Foods in Derbyshire.
“They join a portfolio of long-standing customers including the 02 Arena in London, NEC in Birmingham, major restaurant chains such as Pizza Hut as well as in top football clubs and some of the largest retail shopping centres across the country.”
A presentation was also made to Andy Mullan, project engineer at the NEC in Birmingham which was one of the first venues in the UK to adopt HSG’s innovative Ureco system. Since then, the system has saved the NEC the equivalent of 35 Olympic sized swimming pools of water every year.
Mr Rice has also developed the Cleen App and Dashboard which is the UK’s first fully integrated washroom services system.
The Cleen App is free to download and enables customers and visitors to rate the washrooms and report issues in any type of venue from restaurants and shopping centres to sports stadia and airports.
These can then be viewed by other Cleen App users so that they can see which venues have good – and poor – washroom facilities and make a choice to visit accordingly.
The Cleen Dashboard then enables businesses and washroom services providers to have full and immediate access to reviews - highlighting the issues so that they can take action and directly respond to customer feedback.
