Cadent Gas
High Service Standards Delivered for Cadent
Constant call outs for urinal blockages and repairs is every facilities manager’s nightmare but the company responsible for managing and maintaining Cadent’s extensive property portfolio have found the ideal solution – thanks to HSG.
14FortyFM is part of the multi-national Compass Group and provides facilities management services to a broad range of private companies – including Cadent (previously National Grid Gas Distribution)
The Challenge
The property portfolio range from offices and call centres to small depots and both 14FortyFM and Cadent identified that the male washrooms were a particularly high drain on resources with regard to issues with blockages.
With cleaning and odour issues and regular call outs for drain blockages – a disproportionate about of time and money was being wasted on maintaining and repairing the washrooms.
Janet Gibbs is National Operations Manager leading on the facilities management for 61 sites and 300+ buildings owned by Cadent which manages and maintains the gas distribution network across the UK.
She used to work with HSG when she was facilities manager at a major national company in the East Midlands and had seen for herself the results achieved there by installing the Ureco urinal sleeve and Uretech water management system.
Our Approach
When faced with similar issues at Cadent, she arranged for a survey by the HSG technical team who estimated the reduction in water usage and cost savings that their innovative system could achieve.
The Ureco system has so far been installed in male washrooms at six Cadent sites from Sheffield in the North to Fulham in the south.
The annual water savings across these six sites is nearly 7.4 million litres – resulting in annual cost savings of £18,400.
The Result
Janet Gibbs explained “Having tried different urinal sleeves in my previous role, I was amazed at the results that Ureco achieved there and I was keen to replicate the system at sites across the Cadent network.
“Sustainability is a particularly important aspect of the service that we provide to Cadent and the water usage savings are significant. The innovative Ureco system offers something totally unique in the market place.
“In addition the HSG technical team are professionals who go the extra mile to replace pipework where necessary and eradicate historic issues so that the Ureco can have a positive impact from day one.
“The washrooms are then serviced by HSG every 13 weeks who provide a detailed report regarding cleaning standards and procedures and an update on the water usage and therefore cost savings being achieved.
“The washroom experience is now far more pleasant and we always get positive feedback from the outset following installation
“Substantial time and money continues to be saved by eradicating the need to regularly unblock urinals – leaving cleaning and maintenance teams the time and resources to concentrate on other jobs.
“Since the first Ureco system was installed in Coventry 3 months ago there have been no blockages whereas before, they were occurring every other week.”
