NHS Property Services
Healthy Return For Ureco Installation
In the first stage of a wider NHS rollout, HSG has installed the Ureco system at 13 community-based clinics and surgeries managed by NHS Property Services who have tenants such Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire Teaching Hospital, Blackpool teaching Hospital etc…
This installation has been completed to support the organisation’s commitment to improving sustainability and the patient experience.
The Challenge
The NHS Property Services provides a wide range of health and wellbeing services for the local population of around 1.5 million people across more than 400 sites in the county.
Issues such as high-water usage, blockages and unpleasant smells were identified in washrooms at several key sites and the Trust’s facilities services team contacted HSG to recommend a solution
Our Approach
The HSG Ureco technical team surveyed all 13 problematic sites and provided a full business case to the Trust in terms of water, CO2 and cost savings.
The Ureco system was then installed at times to minimise disruption to patient services.
The Result
Over the next three years, the Ureco system installation across these 13 sites managed by NHS Property Services will reduce the amount of washroom water usage by nearly 11.5 million litres – saving 11.96 tonnes of CO2 and reducing utility bills by £28,426.
Trust Facilities Services Manager Colin Maylor said: “The Ureco is a simple but highly effective system which not only improves the washroom user experience by banishing blockages and smells but also achieves significant environmental and cost savings for the NHS.”
